Experience Lone Mountain Ranch

Our public experiences for summer activities are a wonderful opportunity for those who live or are staying locally and want to enjoy the magic of our property. The ranch offers a variety of activities for visitors, including our weekly rodeo, outdoor youth activities program, and horseback riding. The rodeo is a fun and exciting way to experience the thrill of the Old West, with events such as bull riding, barrel racing, and team roping. For families with children, the kids camp offers a range of activities that are both educational and entertaining, such as nature hikes and arts and crafts. And of course, horseback riding is a must-do activity at the ranch, with scenic trails that offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forests.

Lone Mountain Ranch Rodeo

Join us for our weekly Tuesday night Lone Mountain Ranch Rodeo where we challenge cowboys and cowgirls to a competition for bragging rights and the honor of wearing our Ranch Buckle!

Our ranch rodeo is a throwback to the old west in which teams of cowboys or cowgirls from their home ranch compete in events based on their profession from the prairie. Events are based on realistic jobs that were done 100 years ago and are still done today across the west. At our weekly Rodeo, we feature barrel racing, ranch roping, old west bronc rides, and team sorting/cowhorse competing! Tickets include rodeo, elevated Montana Summer cook-out, beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks.

Horseback Riding

A perfect way to see the beauty the Spanish Peaks have to offer between the ears of a horse. Our beautiful one or two hour trail rides will take you across small bridges, take you along the North Fork of the Gallatin, and give you spectacular views of Lone Peak.

You will get the chance to challenge your flora knowledge as you ride through the open meadows filled with colorful wildflowers, such as Indian Paintbrush and Lupines. You may even have the chance to see mule deer, elk, or a moose as you walk through the timber on your way back to the barn. This ride is recommended for riders of all abilities. Please note that we cater the rides to the rider with the lowest ability.

Outdoor Youth Activities Camp

The Ranch is as much a playground for children as it is for adults. This program builds confidence through outdoor recreation, horseback riding, develops an appreciation for nature, and most of all gives young people (aged 5-14) the space to roam, have fun, and connect with each other. Experienced and energetic staff will lead kids through a variety of adventures geared to inspire and challenge all age groups.

Horn & Cantle

At Lone Mountain Ranch, our culinary program is a major source of pride. We have a deep commitment to locally sourced, farm-to-table menus that reflect our true Montana heritage. Whether you join us at Big Sky’s favorite Horn & Cantle Restaurant, The Saloon, or on one of our signature experiences, you’ll find a mix of on-the-range classics just of the beaten path. Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance.
